On Friday the 10th August our school's Faith Alive Team participated in the Winter Sleep-Out in support of the St. Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal.
Vinnies Sleepouts provide a glimpse into the realities of homelessness by ‘sleeping rough’ for a night to raise awareness and funds for Vinnies homelessness services. This experience challenged our students' sense of home and offers unique insights into the complex issues faced by people experiencing homelessness.
The aim of the night was to help raise awareness of poverty in our community and give our students the chance to work towards a more just and compassionate society. We were thrilled to have a fantastic turn out with around 40 students in attendance.
The students participated in a number of faith based activities which included the packing of all the donations received by the whole school.
Thank you for the generosity all our St Josephs families have shown for such a valuable cause.

🚀 Year 3 STEM in Action: Engineering a Mars Helicopter! Our Year 3 students have been busy stepping into the shoes of engineers as they explored how STEM helps solve real-world problems! This week’s challenge: How can we design a helicopter that could fly on Mars? 🚁🔴 Students investigated how engineers test ideas, build prototypes, and make improvements. Using simple materials, they designed their own helicopters, tested how they flew, observed what worked (and what didn’t!), and then refined their designs to improve performance. It was amazing to see their curiosity, resilience, and excitement as they worked to make their helicopters fly better with each test. #STEMlearning #YoungEngineers #LearningThroughDoing #FutureInnovators

Official Opening of our new primary soccer field. This week our new soccer field was officially opening by Karen McKeown, MP for Penrith. We would not have been able to create such a wonderful playing area without the support from Karen and the state government. Karen not only officially opened our new field, but she stayed to kick a few goals with our students. ⚽️🎖️

Our opening school mass was a huge success yesterday. Congratulations to our newly commissioned leaders for 2026. Our school captains and student leadership team were presented with their leadership badges. All of Year 6 received their student leader badges and have started the year setting a fine example for our community. We are feeling very blessed and proud. We look forward to watching our leaders grow throughout the year. 😃🙏

Happy 1 week Kindergarten! Our Kindergarten students have had a wonderful first week of school! Throughout the week, students have been busy settling into their new learning environment and building beautiful friendships. They have been learning how to meditate and pray, helping them feel calm, focused and connected as part of our school community. The children have enjoyed lots of hands-on activities including creative craft experiences, playful learning opportunities and working together through games and group activities. They have also been busy developing their early learning skills through counting, writing and exploring new ideas in fun and engaging ways. We are so proud of how confidently our Kindergarten students have begun their school journey. What a fantastic start to the year!

Last week, our Year 4 students have been busy building both their maths and writing skills! In maths, students worked in small groups to deepen their understanding of place value and how this helps us solve problems. In English, students discussed complex sentences, learning how subordinating conjunctions connect independent and dependent clauses. They amazed us all by working in pairs to create their own complex sentences. It’s been wonderful to see students learning together, sharing ideas, and growing in confidence across both subjects!

Year 5 had the sweetest Science lesson yesterday. As part of their Science unit, Year 5 made gelato. While mixing, cooking and adding flavour, they explored how ingredients change from solids to liquids to gases, and identified which changes in the cooking process are reversible and which are irreversible. Lots of curious questions, lots of learning… and lots of smiles! Science never tasted so good!
