On Friday the 10th August our school's Faith Alive Team participated in the Winter Sleep-Out in support of the St. Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal.
Vinnies Sleepouts provide a glimpse into the realities of homelessness by ‘sleeping rough’ for a night to raise awareness and funds for Vinnies homelessness services. This experience challenged our students' sense of home and offers unique insights into the complex issues faced by people experiencing homelessness.
The aim of the night was to help raise awareness of poverty in our community and give our students the chance to work towards a more just and compassionate society. We were thrilled to have a fantastic turn out with around 40 students in attendance.
The students participated in a number of faith based activities which included the packing of all the donations received by the whole school.
Thank you for the generosity all our St Josephs families have shown for such a valuable cause.

π£β¨ BIG NEWS, YEAR 1 FAMILIES! β¨π£ Our special visitors have ARRIVED and theyβre absolutely adorable! On Monday, Year 1 welcomed a very special delivery: an incubator full of eggs! π₯ The children were buzzing with excitement. Todayβ¦ the moment they've all been waiting for! π Two fluffy baby chicks hatched! The students were over the moon as they welcomed their new friends and voted on the perfect names: π₯ Nugget π₯ Cookie Through this amazing experience, our Year 1 learners are deepening their understanding of animal life cycles, all while building empathy, curiosity and scientific thinking.

Biblical Micrography in Year 2! Our Year 2 students have been exploring, 'The Great Commission' (Matthew 28:16β20) as part of our learning about the Sacraments and Godβs grace. Students first chose a symbol or image connected to the Scripture, then carefully created their design with a word or phrase from the scripture that was important to them. This process encouraged them to slow down, reflect on the meaning of the Scripture and creatively represent their understanding. Jesus reminds his disciples to go out and share the Good News, promising that he will be with us always. This connects beautifully with our learning that Godβs grace is a gift, made visible and celebrated through the Sacraments. It was wonderful to see our students combine faith, scripture, creativity and reflection in their beautiful artwork! π

Today we celebrated 100 Days of Kindergarten! π Our students had an amazing day taking part in lots of exciting activities to celebrate how far they've come in their learning journey. They loved completing a 100 Days scavenger hunt, imagining what they might look like 100 years from now, and creating some very yummy fairy bread ππ To top off a fantastic day, we were lucky enough to have a special visit from Joey, which was the perfect way to end our celebrations. We are so proud of everything our Kindergarten students have achieved in their first 100 days of school. Year 6 Voice of Youth Competition On Monday, our Year 6 students took part in the Voice of Youth speech competition. The program provides every student with the opportunity to write, prepare and deliver a speech, while also giving those with a flair for public speaking the chance to showcase their talents. We are so proud of the courage, creativity and confidence shown by all our Year 6 students as they shared their ideas and messages with an audience. A special congratulations to our school finalists Aubrey, Akua and Bianca, who will go on to represent our school in the Cluster final. What a wonderful celebration of student voice and expression. π€©π
