On Monday award-winning and bestselling illustrator of picture books, David Legge came and visited the students here at St Joseph’s
David has written his own book Bamboozled and illustrated many others. He was able to share his love of literature and his passion and talent for drawing with the children.
David Legge lives in Sydney's west and has been a professional illustrator since 1986.

His books include Bamboozled, Tom Goes to Kindergarten and Baby Boomsticks. He has also collaborated with Frances Watts on four picture books, Kisses for Daddy, Parsley Rabbit's Book about Books, Captain Crabclaw's Crew and The Fearsome, Frightening, Ferocious Box, and together they've sold hundreds of thousands of copies of their books worldwide.
With a background of teaching illustration and design as a TAFE tutor, and a regular speaker at the Art Gallery of NSW, David Legge is a fabulous speaker and his sessions inspire students to not only read more but create their own illustrated books! In his visit he took away the mystery of illustration, included lots of preparatory work, finished illustrations and hands on drawing.

It was a fabulous experience leading into our Writer’s Festival on Friday 21st September where families are invited to come along and read the children’s published work. The children at St Joseph’s Kingswood have been very busy creating exciting pieces of writing and we look forward to seeing you there!

This Friday, we’ll be celebrating Mission Month with a special Socktober Liturgy in the MPA, beginning at 9:15am. Families are warmly invited to join us as we come together in faith and community. To mark the occasion, students are encouraged to wear their craziest, most colourful socks and bring a gold coin donation to support those in need within our community. Let’s step up in style and show how small acts of kindness can make a big difference!21 Oct 2025

Year 5 Leadership Day What an incredible day our Year 5 students had on their Leadership Day! Throughout the day, students explored what it truly means to be a leader in the footsteps of Jesus — someone who leads through service, kindness, and compassion. They took part in a range of fun and challenging activities that encouraged communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and courage. Students reflected on how leadership is not about power or position, but about using our gifts to serve others and make a positive difference in our school community. It was inspiring to see so many students step up with confidence and show that true leadership begins with a servant heart.
